Our Vision and Mission

The vision of MEC is to:

Love God and love one another, with Christ’s empowering love.

This is from the two Great Commandments:

Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 22: 37-40)*

Our mission is encapsulated in these four statements:

1. To stop and love the one.

Though we may not be in a position to meet all society’s needs in every situation, we are committed to help all those individuals we do encounter, who are in need of our help and support. This is derived from the Parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10: 25-37)

2. To be disciples and make disciples.

We become more mature in our faith and Christ-like through our beliefs, our faith, heart-felt worship, encountering the Holy Spirit, Biblical teaching, our caring fellowship, Bible study and prayer. We look to share our faith in Jesus Christ as Lord with others through our words, and our activities: based upon the ‘Great Commission’ (Matthew 28:18-20)

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.  Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and surely, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”  (Matthew 28:18-20)*

3. Unity and Community

We expect the Holy Spirit to be actively present in our church: our constant inspiration and guide. Our aim is to work alongside each other, encouraging one another in our different areas of service and gifting and welcoming all who do not yet know Jesus as Lord to join with us in their journey of discovery (Ephesians 4: 3). As part of God’s wider church in Malvern there are some things we do most effectively by joining together with other churches in the town.

4. To be a House of prayer for all nations.

Jesus’ desire was that those from all nations should be welcome to join the Christian praying community (Mark 11:17). With our wide representation of many different nations, we recognise this and feel called to pray for the nations of the world.

For My house will be called a house of prayer for all the peoples. (Mark 11:17)*
